Oh the Places You’ll Go!

Here is a treat for you all – a guest post by Desiree Winterbottom of SLPTalk!

Follow along as she gives a tour of her amazing Speech room:

“We enjoy the fun glow of the hot air balloons when the florescent lights are turned off.  The hot air balloons were created from light kits and lanterns from IKEA. Then, I attached plastic containers from the Dollar Tree (4/$1!) with some ribbon-YEAH!

Students utilize executive functioning skills as they store their Speech Star Reward Cards that encourage them to make positive choices as they try their best in speech! Download my free speech reward incentives from my Teachers Pay Teachers store!

Here is a close up of the Star Rewards Cards that the students hole punch when they try their very best in speech!  I created them online using www.vistaprint.com

My students have also been adding their fingerprints and initials to our speech family tree that we will proudly display in our room.

This was repurposed from my daughter’s room and fancied up using my Cricut machine and some vinyl.  Storage is always a hot commodity with SLPs so I make use of every square inch of space!

A peek inside the drawers…great storage for all of my Super Duper Fun Decks and Therapist Created Card Decks!…and quick access to art supplies and speech/language sticks  (coming soon to my TpT store!)

The flower pinwheels (below left) are filled with positive attributes that my students use to describe themselves. Check out the Birthday Straws that students choose on their birthday (middle background) accompanied by a picture that my adorable son made with his awesome babysitter (shameless Mom plug…)

What’s behind the curtain you ask? No, it’s not a wizard…

There are games and books and materials, oh my!

  1. Thank you so very much for featuring my room! I feel so honored! I have to admit though, the best attribute to my room is the students that fill it! 🙂

  2. What a beautiful, cheerful, welcoming room! Great space, Desiree!
