Let’s Talk with…..MinneBites!

Today we have another treat in store for you! We have a sneaky look behind the doors of Mary Pow’s MinneBites store on Etsy.  Here’s what Mary had to say…

Hi! I’m a designer and a mom and my name is Mary Pow. I have a handmade business and online shop called MinneBites, where I sell bags and cases designed and made by me to customers all over the world. MinneBites started as cute animal shaped bags with zippers for mouths. As a result, I get the name for my business from the small animal bags that ‘bite’ and from the ‘Minne’ in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where my home studio is located. Creating titled

I went to school for architecture and finished my master’s degree thinking I would eventually become a licensed architect. But after working in the field for several years, I quit my job to stay home full-time with my young children. It was a wonderful decision, but I really missed being out of the creative world. Eventually, I borrowed my mom’s sewing machine and began to create little bags for my kids. That small scale design was just what I was missing. I began to design and create more bags and cases, slowly growing my designs and creations into a business.

I’ve expanded MinneBites from its beginning as bags shaped like animals to include several lines of modern bags, wallets, and cases. I start each design with carefully chosen fabrics that I love. And I always include a touch of the unexpected: unique color combinations and design elements that pop.
