Classroom Decor: Using downloadable fonts

fonts cover pic revised

Within our classrooms, we use all types of printed classroom decor and are always on the lookout for interesting ways to brighten up our labels, signs and tags – using downloadable fonts can really add ‘wow’ factor to your printed decor – as we found out whilst designing our latest packs….the Red and Blue Owl Decor pack and the Superhero Decor pack.

So today, we are going to share with you just how easy it is to download and use some of these fonts – the best thing is that some of them are even free!  To check out our own free fonts pack, visit our Teachers Pay Teachers store here.  We are continuing to add new fonts to the pack and are building up quite a selection of fonts for use in your classroom!  We also have a pack of fonts for commercial use (you can use them in your products for sale on TPT or elsehwere) – to check them out click here.

They are just so easy to use!  Here’s how:

  1. Log into your account on the TeachersPayTeachers website.  If you haven’t got an account on TPT, one can easily be set up using your email address.
  2. Visit our store, Teaching Talking and find our free fonts pack.  There are lots of products in our store,so do have a browse!
  3. Download and open the free fonts – it will look like this once opened:fonts Pic 1 how to
  4. Double click on a font – I chose TeachingHeaderRounded.  When opened, it will look like this:Pic 2 how to
  5. Click the ‘install’ button.  It only takes a few seconds for the font to be installed on your computer.
  6. Open the program you wish to use the font in eg. Microsoft Word or Powerpoint or Photoshop etc..  The TeachingHeaderRounded font should now appear in your fonts menu like this:Fonts Pic 3 how to
  7. You can now install the other free fonts in the same way and when you re-open Word or Powerpoint or Photoshop, the font will be waiting in the fonts menu for use!

Have fun getting creative with your signs, labels and tags!   I hope you will find them as useful as we have!  Here is a quick preview of some the fonts currently included in our pack:
